The Bowls Big Weekend (at LBSC) - 25th May 2pm til 4pm

The Bowls' Big Weekend is back for its fifth year, promising to be the biggest and most exciting yet!

Taking place from Friday, May 23rd to Monday, May 26th, this annual event is designed to introduce more people to the noble sport of bowls, with over 800 clubs across the UK opening their doors for free taster sessions. LBSC is one such club.

Organised by Bowls England in partnership with Aviva, Bowls' Big Weekend is a national initiative aimed at encouraging people of all ages and abilities to try their hand at this fun and sociable sport. Whether you're a seasoned player or an utter novice, the LBSC bowls club members offer you a warm welcome and hope to see you on our beatuiful green to experience the sport.

This year, Cancer Research UK is collaborating with Bowls' Big Weekend to raise awareness and support for those affected by cancer. Many players have found bowls to be a lifeline during treatment, offering both physical activity and social connection.

Club Update Feb '25

Exciting Times Ahead at the Club!

• Main Hall Renovation: Our maintenance team + volunteers are refreshing the main hall. Phase 1 (painting and electrics) is complete, and Phase 2 (flooring replacement) is next. The snooker room will follow, receiving a much-needed spruce up.

• Spring Preparations: As spring approaches and the weather turns milder, we plan to steam-clean the patio to make it safe and pleasant for relaxing and watching bowls.

Decluttering fanatics, paintbrush-wielding loonies or enthusiastic amateurs welcome are of course, MOST WELCOME to help out 😊

Upcoming Events & Updates

• Bowls Club Timetable: The 2025 timetable will be published and sent out in March. Keep an eye out also on the club website for updates.

  
  

  May 29th: Mark your calendars. The hall will host a company called ‘Vintage & Collectibles’ from 10:30 to 16:00. For anyone curious about the value of that thing in the drawer that might be a chunk of glass, or the twin of the Kohinoor diamond, the doors open at 10:30.
